Source Type Bending magnet Optical System Mirror: Platinum coated silicon, adjustably bent cylinder mirror with 1:1 focusing; mirror length is 600 mm; radius is 8 cm; theta = 7.4 mradians (0.42 degree); mirror located 10.8 meters from the source.
Monochromator: Scanning double-crystal synthetic multilayer fixed-exit-beam monochromator; first crystal is water cooled; PZT servo with optional closed-loop feedback on second crystal; Bragg angle ranges from 4 degrees to 54 degrees 2theta; located 14 meters from the source. Experimental Apparatus Radiation hutch with 11'6" ceiling and overhead hoist; Six circle Huber diffractometer (vertical diffraction plane); Ion chambers, scintillation detectors, linear detector, and avalanche photodiode detector; Computer controlled table for Huber. Computer System Hardware & Software IBM Intellistation; RedHat Linux operating system; VME interface; "C-Plot" on-line graphics and "SPEC" software for six circle operation; data can be downloaded onto DOS formatted diskette, 4mm tape, or CD. Data can also be sftp’d to home institution or anonymous ftp’d to ftp.nsls-user.bnl.gov/X20C.
