SCIENTIFIC STAFF POSITION - ASSISTANT (S-1) / ASSOCIATE (S-2) /SCIENTIST (S-3)-  - Requires a Ph.D. in accelerator physics or related field. Experience in the area of (one or more) electron rings, linacs, FELs with emphasis on diagnostics/experimental research is required. Position is with the Accelerator & Operations Division of NSLS. The successful candidate is expected to provide machine physics coverage for one of the NSLS storage rings as well as to become involved in the accelerator and/or FEL R&D. The level of the position will be based on the background and experience of the selected candidate. Under the direction of B. Podobedov National Synchrotron Light Source. Log in to the Candidate Gateway to apply for this position. Position No. 4526

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE  - Requires a Ph.D. in physics or materials science. Experience working with synchrotron x-ray beams and equipment, as well as having demonstrated original research in x-ray diffraction field is required. Successful candidate should be interested in x-ray diffraction phenomena and x-ray optics, particularly from an experimental perspective. Under the direction of E. Vescovo. National Synchrotron Light Source. Log in to the Candidate Gateway to apply for this position. Position No. 3274

MECHANICAL PROJECT ENGINEER I (P-9) - Requires a BSME with a minimum of ten years experience in designing and analyzing components such as those used in particle accelerators and/or beamlines. An advanced degree in engineering, proficiency with FEA software (such as ANSYS), and registration as a NYS Professional Engineer is desirable. Must have the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people, coordinate fabrication, assembly, and installation efforts, and complete tasks effectively on schedule. Responsibilities include the engineering analysis, and structural and thermal design of accelerator and scientific research equipment. Will plan, design, develop and use new or improved mechanical engineering equipment and techniques for the solution and completion of technical and research projects and will provide engineering direction, assistance, and oversight for ongoing operations. National Synchrotron Light Source. Log in to the Candidate Gateway to apply for this position. Position No. 3273

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE () - Requires a Ph.D. in physics or related discipline with specialty in accelerator physics and experience in accelerator simulation and operation. Familiarity with simulation codes for linacs and FELs desirable (such as PARMELA, ELEGANT, MATLAB Toolbox for particle accelerator modeling, or equivalents). Will participate in Ultra-fast Electron Diffraction (UED), THz and FEL experiments at the NSLS Source Development Lab (SDL), and perform both simulation and experimental investigation of electron beam optimization for UED and FEL.
