Weekly Users' Meeting Minutes -- January 14, 2009

Schedule

X-ray: Beam Observation today 1/14/09. All x-ray beamlines are
asked to observe beam and report any problems to Control Room.
Beam will be new X9 orbit.

VUV: Timing run cancelled for Monday 1/19/09 and Monday 1/26/09, 1800 - 2400 hrs
Time is returned to normal operations.

VUV timing runs will most likely be the last two weeks of Feb and the 1st
week of March. Details will be announced when available.

Machine Status

Emil Zitvogel said that there are difficulties with x-ray ramp up and also heating of
X7's water-cooled mask. Temperature sensors and a water cooling jacket are being
installed on the affected area in the X7 front end. The goal is to have X-ray ring up
and running by today, 1/14/09. Beam observation will be a 3 hour window,
preferably finished by 3 PM.

The leak in the X27 front end at the water-cooled mask has not returned and the
temperature has been lowered by the water-cooled jacket installed.

Lab Holiday

Please note that Monday 1/19/09, Martin Luther King Day, is a lab holiday and
most NSLS staff will be unavailable. The Control Room and OPCOs
will be on duty.
