Weekly Users' Meeting Minutes -- January 28, 2009

Schedule

X-ray: No special requests.

VUV: U. of Florida group is planning to come for timing runs during February
and March. Their proposed timing schedule is:

Feb 27: 1800 – 0230 Timing 7 bunch compressed [1800 – 2400 Studies]
Feb 28: 1800 – 0230 Timing 7 bunch detuned
Mar 1: 1800 -0230 Timing 7 bunch detuned
Mar 2: 1800 -0230 Timing 7 bunch detuned
Mar 3: 1200 - 2400 Timing 7 bunch compressed [0800 – 2400 Studies]
Mar 4: 1200 - 2400 Timing 7 bunch compressed [0000 – 2400 Studies]

Machine Status

Both rings are running well. The X9 orbit is in and most beamlines
did not have issues with this new orbit. A few needed to make
adjustments.

The heating issue and leak in the X27 front end mask have been
addressed for now. Other front end masks have heating issues as
well, but no leaks. The problem is scheduled to be addressed more
permanently during the May shutdown for X27 and perhaps others.

May Shutdown

Please contact Emil Zitvogel (zitvogel@bnl.gov) if you have a preference
on when the May shutdown should start, May 1 or shortly after that.
Right now it looks like it could be a month or more but the May-August 2009
schedule is still being developed.

X-ray Template Times

The UEC has recommended a change to x-ray template times. Decision will be
presented at next week's User Meeting.

Town Meeting

The next town meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 2/18/09.

No August shutdown has been planned at this time.
