Weekly Users' Meeting Minutes -- September 16, 2009

Schedule

X-ray: Template time cancelled for Tuesday 9/22/09, 2000 - 2400 hrs.
Time is returned to normal operations.

VUV: Timing run cancelled for Monday 9/21/09, 1800 - 2400 hrs.
Time is returned to normal operations.

Machine Status

Both rings are running well.

X25 is currently down due to a bad encoder on the undulator. A
replacement encoder has been ordered and may be installed next week
during Studies. (Note: X25 encoder repaired Friday morning 9/18.)

Beam Noise

X1 had reported detecting a noisy beam on Tuesday, 9/15. The Control Room
requested that X1 report the issue to them immediately the next time the
event takes place. In addition, X27 is requested to observe the beam for
the same noise.

NSLS II Construction – Soil Compacting

The large compactor is not scheduled to be in operation in the NW corner
of the site through 10/2/09.

Security Audit

There will be a security (personnel, physical, cyber, information, etc.) audit
this week. Users are advised to protect their computing facilities by having
password-enabled screen saver, secure data storage devices that may contain
sensitive materials; and lock up their offices, computing rooms and wiring closets
when they are not occupied.
