Weekly Users' Meeting Minutes -- September 2, 2009

Schedule

X-ray: No special requests.

VUV: Timing runs cancelled for Friday 9/4/09 and Monday 9/7/09,
1800 - 2400 hrs. Time is returned to normal operations.

Machine Status

Both rings are running well.

X-ray beam expected back on by 8 tonight.

X9's beam position was off. Studies carried out by the accelerator group
found a better orbit position for X9. Observation studies of this orbit
bump will be scheduled at a future date.

There was a problem with one of the power supplies for the VUV. Technicians are
working on it and the problem is expected to be resolved before 1 PM today.

Cybersecurity Audit

There will be a cyber-security review/audit this week. Users are advised to protect
their computing facilities by having password-enabled screen saver and lock their
offices when not in.

NSLS II Construction – Soil Compacting

There are no large compactor activities scheduled in the NW corner of the site until
9/14. Between 9/14 and 9/18, the large compactor will be in operation intermittently
in the NW corner of the site.

Lab Holiday

Please note that Monday 9/7/09, Labor Day, is a lab holiday and
most NSLS staff will be unavailable. The Control Room and OPCOs
will be on duty.
