An Occurrence is defined as:

"An event or a condition that adversely affects, or may adversely affect DOE or contractor personnel, the public, property, the environment, or the DOE mission."

All NSLS staff and users, Plant Engineering personnel, personnel from other BNL departments and sub-contractors working within NSLS facilities are required to report occurrences to their supervisors and to NSLS Management and ES&H staff.

The NSLS will follow the guidance provided in the Occurrence Reporting and Processing System (ORPS) Subject Area.

The Occurrence Categorizer's Procedure consists of a description of BNL Occurrence Categorizers and a list of those events or conditions meeting the occurrence criteria.
