Potential hazards, controls and requirements to be followed regarding the use of radio frequency and microwave radiation are detailed in the Radiofrequency/Microwave Radiation Subject Area. This Subject Area covers the frequency range of 30 kHz to 300 GHz for instruments such as fixed or portable RF/microwave emitters, particle accelerators, induction heaters, and certain power supplies.

Inventories and surveys of sources shall be maintained by the Light Sources ES&H Coordinator in collaboration with the NSLS and NSLS-II Electrical and RF Groups and may be found in the Attachments below.

Significant changes in equipment require re-evaluation. Changes in the system such as routine maintenance and in-kind replacement of failed components, i.e., elements, do not trigger the need for re-evaluation.
