| Number: | LS-ESH-PRM-8.2.0 |
| Section: | TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR NSLS-II |
| Date: | 07/23/2008 |
| Revision: | 1 |
| Prepared by: | Mary Anne Corwin, Nicholas Gmür |
| Approved by: | Steven A. Hoey (NSLS-II ESH Manager) |
1.0 PURPOSE
To define the training requirements applicable to personnel working at buildings staffed and/or maintained by the NSLS-II. These training requirements are intended to supplement the minimum training requirements established by Brookhaven National Laboratory.
2.0 SCOPE
These requirements apply to all employees, guests, users, contractors and visitors working at a facility staffed and/or maintained by the NSLS-II.
3.0 TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Job Training Assessments (JTAs) are sets of training requirements assigned to individuals based on roles and responsibilities, and also according to the type of access required to buildings maintained by the NSLS-II. Training requirements associated with JTAs are listed in the Brookhaven Training Management System (BTMS.
3.1 DEPARTMENT STAFF
JTA LT-01 is assigned to:
Employees whose appointments are held by the NSLS-II
Any person who has assigned office space within a NSLS-II building
Student interns whose work is supervised by a NSLS-II employee
3.2 ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
The following JTAs are assigned to any person who has an assigned office space within the associated building or to contractors who are given unescorted access to perform work or services in the associated building:
JTA LT-01A for Building 817
JTA LT-01B for Building 830M
JTA LT-01C for Buildings 902 or 905
JTA LT-01D for Building 703
New JTAs will be developed with associated training requirements for access as buildings are occupied by NSLS-II project staff.
3.3 JOB REQUIREMENTS
JTAs are generally assigned according to an individual's roles and responsibilities. JTAs are listed in the Brookhaven Training Management System (BTMS). In addition to the JTAs developed by BNL, NSLS and NSLS-II have developed job-specific JTAs for certain roles or tasks to ensure that policies for occupational, safety, and the environment are met and to address potential hazards. These JTAs are also listed in the BTMS. When applicable, JTAs with the "LS" prefix are assigned to LT staff to eliminate redundancies. "LT" JTAs are developed and assigned when no "LS" JTA exists that would outline the necessary training requirements for a specific job. New "LT" JTAs are developed when appropriate.
