Dr. Yi Ding joins the NSLS as a Postdoc in the Experimental System Division.
He come to us from the group of Dr Laura Lewis (a former employ at BNL) in the Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science Department. Yi Ding earned his PhD in 2006 from the Physics Department at Carnegie Mellon University; working on the subject of magnetic properties of nanoparticles. Over the years, Yi Ding has accumulated a considerable experience with synchrotron radiation, using many different techniques, particularly X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption and time-resolved Magnetic Circular Dichroism. His work at NSLS will focus on the design and characterization a microfabricated, ultra-high resolution Si monochromator based on the classical Fabry-Perot interferometer but operating in the hard X-ray regime.
