Environmental Training (NSLS Job Specific)
Purpose
NSLS Job Specific Environmental Training is intended to provide
an awareness of certain tasks involving a significant environmental
aspect.
Applicability:
BNL Employees, Guests, Users, or Contractors who perform the
activities listed below must receive training before starting any
related work.
Policies:
Training
Training may be required for one or more of the activities
involving environmental aspects listed below. Please contact the
NSLS Training
Coordinator or the appropriate
ESH
staff member for specific training requirements, since
additional courses may be required.
NSLS Environmental Awareness courses are completed through the
BNL Training website.
- Crystal Cutting is required for anyone who performs crystal cutting.
- Crystal Etching is required for the Shop Manager of the crystal etching facility and anyone who performs crystal etching.
- Lead work is required for anyone machining lead (e.g. cutting bricks)for Shop Managers of designated lead machining shops.
- Machine Shop Operations is required for NSLS Machine Shop Managers and all users of NSLS machine shops.
- Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance is required for NSLS Mechanical Engineers and Technicians, as well as NSLS Electrical Engineers and Technicians.
- Photographic Darkroom Operations is required for the Darkroom Manager and all users of the darkrooms.
- Satellite Accumulation Area Manager is required for the NSLS 90-Area Manager and all Satellite Accumulation Area managers.
- Vacuum Systems is required for the NSLS Vacuum Engineers and Vacuum Technicians.
- Water Systems (Regeneration of Mixed Bed De-ionizer for NSLS Process Water Systems) is required for the Utilities Engineer and staff members of the Utilities Group.
