Beamline User Training

Required Training

The minimum training requirements for users of the National Synchrotron Light Source beamlines are listed below:

  • NSLS Safety Module
  • General Employee Radiological Training

Resident beamline staff have additional training requirements.

As a user of the NSLS, you will be assigned one of the following Job Training Assessments (JTAs) for the courses listed above:

  • GE-53L NSLS User
  • LS-34 NSLS User
Beamline Operations and Safety Orientation Awareness (BLOSA) Training

For each beamline on which you perform research, Beamline Operations and Safety Orientation Awareness (BLOSA) Training will also be required. Training is provided by beamline staff when you arrive at the beamline.

Specialized Training

Please refer to your Safety Approval Form for any additional, specialized training that may be required by NSLS Safety Staff.

Access to the NSLS

The BNL ID card will be encoded for access to the NSLS by request to the User Administration Office following verification of the required training.
