Visitors to the NSLS

Visitors, Meetings, and Tours

In most cases, if you are coming to the NSLS for a casual visit, meeting, or tour, no training is required, and you will be escorted by trained personnel.

Escorted Access for Visitors to Controlled Areas

No training is required for experimental observers and other visitors who access radiologically controlled areas, such as the NSLS Experimental Floor, under the following conditions:

  • The visitor is escorted at all times by a trained person
  • The visitor will not be in the controlled area for more than a total of eight hours during the visit
  • The visitor is not participating in a beamline experiment
  • The visitor is not performing any type or work or service
  • The visitor is not a vendor or contractor
  • The visitor is a U.S. citizen

The sponsor of the event will either brief you on general site and facility emergency procedures or ensure that you are escorted at all times.

Note: Additional requirements apply to minors, foreign nationals, vendors, contractors and consultants. Please contact the NSLS Guest Administrator for more information.
