Poster Session, Poster Contest, and Call for Posters
Call for Posters
The Users' Executive Committee invites all scientists, researchers,
post docs and students to submit posters exhibiting their research
at the NSLS for the Poster Session to be held during Annual Users'
Meeting. Multiple entries by the same author are permitted. In
addition, post docs and students may enter their poster(s) in the
Poster Contest. Cash prizes will be awarded and the winning posters
will be exhibited in the NSLS Lobby after the close of the Users'
Meeting and Workshops.
Poster Registration
Users who wish to present a poster on science and/or beamline
advances made during 2003-2004 must submit a Poster Registration
Form online. Posters will be accepted until available space has been
filled. Final deadline for submission is May 7, 2004. For last minute poster submissions,
please email Lisa Miller.
Note: Registrants must also be registered for either the NSLS Users'
Main Meeting or
Workshops.

Poster Preparation
All illustrations, charts and textual material to be posted must be prepared in advance of the meeting.
Duplicating and graphic arts facilities will not be available
during the meeting.
Poster Size
Posters should no larger than 3' wide by 4' high. DO NOT EXCEED THIS SIZE. Easels cannot
accommodate larger sizes. The poster must be contained on one sheet of paper or poster board.
Poster Title
Posters must have a printed title, with lettering at least 1-1/2" high. Below the title, list the names of the
poster authors and their affiliations. Ensure the poster is legible from a distance.
Hand-Outs
Please remember to
bring copies of any hand-outs you may wish to distribute. You may also download a Poster Sign Up Sheet for
placement near your poster for those who wish additional information.
Poster Set Up
All posters must arrive at Berkner Hall between 12 noon and 2:00 p.m. for set up on Monday, May 17. A supply of
push pins, masking tape, and pens will be available in the poster set-up area. Matte board and poster board will
not be available. Entrants are responsible for their posters and should be available during the Poster Session to
answer questions about their work.
Poster Session
The Poster Session will open Monday, May 17, at 5:30 p.m. during the Welcoming Reception in Berkner Hall. It
will be located in close proximity to the vendor instrumentation/equipment exhibit and food. The Poster
Session will conclude on Tuesday, May 18, at 5:00 p.m. at which time you MUST remove your poster.
Poster Contest
A contest for post docs and students will be held. To be eligible for the contest, the first author listed
on the poster must be a post doc or student and must be a registered attendee of the Annual Users' Meeting.
Six $50 cash prizes will be awarded according to scientific discipline. Judging will take place by an ad-hoc
committee of the Users' Executive Committee and will take place during Monday evening's Welcoming Reception.
Presenting authors must be present at this time. Award winners will be announced on Tuesday afternoon during
the Main Meeting.
Poster Removal
The six winning posters will be removed by the Poster Coordinator for placement in the NSLS Lobby. All
other poster materials are to be taken down no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May
18.
