In my capacity as Vendor Coordinator for the 2004 BNL National
Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS) Users’ Meeting, I would like to
announce the upcoming meeting to be held May 17-20, 2004 at
Brookhaven National Laboratory and invite you to participate as an
equipment or service vendor.
Over 2500 experimenters from all over the world come to use the
NSLS each year. A significant fraction of the meeting attendees not
only use synchrotron beamlines, but they design and build them as
well. Many are involved with synchrotron beamlines built at
Stanford, Lawrence Berkeley Labs, Louisiana State University, and
Argonne National Lab. In addition, hundreds of graduate and
post-graduate students are trained here each year. It can be assumed
that after they leave school and are equipping their own labs, they
will use ideas and equipment that they learned while working at the
NSLS. Our scientists are interested in X-ray and VUV optics and
detectors, UHV hardware and instrumentation, CAMAC systems and other
computer-controlled data acquisition systems, stepping motor
controlled positioning equipment, low-noise, high gain
instrumentation amplifiers, and data analysis software.
This year's meeting consists of three days of workshops and a
one-day plenary session. A welcoming reception featuring the Vendor
Exhibit and a Poster Session will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May
17 in Berkner Hall that will include hot and cold hors 'doerves and
an open bar. The Vendor Exhibit and Poster Session will conclude on
Tuesday evening, May 18 at 5 p.m. More detailed instructions will be
provided to registered vendor participants.
Vendor and exhibit space is limited and available on a
first-come, first-served basis. There are 21 locations available in
the main lobby for a contribution of $1,200 per table and 4 tables
in Conference Room B at $1,000. We are also offering one or two
locations at certain workshops for one day at a reduced rate of $500
per table.
Contribution checks should be made payable to Brookhaven Science
Associates and mailed directly with the enclosed Corporate
Registration and Exhibit Profile Form to Liz Flynn, National
Synchrotron Light Source, User Administration Office, Brookhaven
National Laboratory, Building 725B, P.O. Box 5000, Upton, NY
11973-5000.
Details pertaining to the meeting, social events and facility
tour will be posted on our website at http://www.nsls.bnl.gov/users/meeting/
All attending vendors and exhibitors are required to register for
the meeting at the following website: http://www.nsls.bnl.gov/users/meeting/2004/vendors.htm.
I hope you will join us in making the NSLS Users’ Meeting a
rousing success, and I look forward to seeing you in May. If you are
unable to attend this year’s meeting, perhaps you might consider
assisting in its sponsorship, you may contact me for more
information at (631) 344-5763.
Sincerely,
Liz Flynn
Vendor Coordinator
