The Other Swiss Perspective on Robotics and AutomationEhmke Pohl The Swiss Light Source (SLS) at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) currently operates two undulator beam lines for protein crystallography. The first beam line (X06SA) is equipped with two separate end-stations, the high-resolution phi-goniostat with a detector mounted in an A-frame and the microdiffractometer (MD2®) located on an optical table. An ACTOR® system is currently being installed on the MD2 end-station. The second beam line (X10SA) that entered operation in February 2005 features the same phi-goniostat and A-frame as X06SA. In this presentation various aspects of automation including remote-control, sample centering and automatic mounting will be discussed. |
