Joint NSLS and CFN Users' Meeting Attendee Instructions
Helpful hints for our meeting and workshop attendees to make your
visit to Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and attendance at the
Joint NSLS and CFN Users' Meeting a pleasant one...
Transportation
Information, directions and maps to BNL can be found through the
meeting website
Access to BNL
Arrive early, at least one hour prior to your scheduled workshop
or meeting.
- If you have a valid BNL ID badge, stay in the LEFT LANE as you
enter BNL. To be
valid, the date on the bottom of your ID badge must be current.
- If you do not have a BNL badge or it's expired, stay in the RIGHT LANE
as you enter BNL. Inform the guard you are attending
the annual NSLS Users' Meeting, which is open to the public.
If you pre-registered, your name will be on a list and you may be
requested to check in at the
security trailer. A photo ID is required. Allow sufficient time for
gate check-in. You may experience delays due to meeting attendance
and the usual morning traffic.
Housing
If you reserved onsite housing, please proceed to the appropriate
office below to pick up your key.
- The Housing Office (Bldg. 400, the new Research Support Building) is open Monday through Friday,
8:00 a.m. to midnight, and also on Sunday from 4 p.m. to
midnight.
- Those arriving or leaving at other times may pick up or drop
off keys at Police Headquarters (Bldg. 50).

Conference Desk Check-In
All attendees, including workshop speakers and organizers, MUST
check-in at the Conference Desk in Berkner Hall to pick up their
personalized meeting badge (to be worn at all times while onsite), meeting
packet and meal tickets. Do not go directly to
any meeting or workshop until you have checked in at the Conference
Desk. The meeting badge is required to access workshops, meetings
and to regain access to BNL if you drive offsite. All information pertinent to the meeting and workshops will
be in your packet together with paid receipts and credit card slips.
There will be assistants at each workshop location verifying attendance
and ensuring meals and beverage services run smoothly.
The Conference Registration Desk will open during the following
times:
Sunday, May 20, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Monday, May 21, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, May 22, from 7:30 a.m. through 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 23, from 7:30 a.m. through 12:00 p.m.

The printed program may not contain the latest information. Any changes to the program for the meeting or workshops will be
posted at the Users' Meeting Home Page.

Receiving Messages from your office
Messages can be left for you at the Conference Desk. For the
duration of the workshops and meeting only, the telephone number
(631) 344-4703. Messages will be posted on a bulletin board in front
of Berkner Hall Room D (Conference Desk).
Computer Access
Three computer terminals are located in Berkner Hall for internet
access or accessing your email during the meeting. Click

Faxing Documents
A fax machine is located in Berkner Hall for those who require
faxing services. The phone number is (631) 344-2069. See the
Conference Desk for assistance in using the fax machine.
Banquet
The
Users' Meeting Banquet, held onsite at Berkner Hall, has been an
astounding success over the past couple years with seating at full
capacity. If you have not previously registered for the banquet and
still wish to do so, you may purchase tickets at the Conference Desk
during check-in. Tickets are on a first-come, first-serve basis
until they run out (capacity: 150).
