Description:

Nanomedicine is the medical diagnosis, monitoring and treatment at the level of single molecules or molecular assemblies that provide structure, control, signaling, homeostasis and motility in cells (definition provided by the American Academy of Nanomedicine-AANM). This workshop begins with the basic cellular biomechanics associated with cell transformations that promotes healing or occurs with cancer development. Topics continue with current cutting edge diagnosis and treatment of cancers and other pathologies using nanomedicine approaches for diagnosis, or drug delivery treatment. The workshop will include seminars from renowned leaders of the Nanomedicine Field, including Dr. Chiming Wei, Johns Hopkins University, Founder of the Journal of Nanomedicine, and Dr. Michael Sheetz, Director of the Nanomedicine Center, Columbia University, Dr. Omid Farokhzad, Harvard Medical School, and Dr. Brian Helmke, University of Virginia, Charlottesville.
