Workshop 1: Nanostructured Photovoltaic Materials and Devices

Date: Monday, May 18, 2009

Organizer(s): Charles Black (BNL-CFN), ctblack@bnl.gov

Location: Center for Functional Nanomaterials, Bldg. 735

Description: Nanostructured materials hold promise for improving the conversion efficiencies of photovoltaic devices. Control over the internal material dimensions provides an experimental lever for optimizing all aspects of the optical to electronic energy conversion process, including light absorption, exciton separation and dissociation, and charge carrier collection. This workshop provides a forum for presentation and discussion of recent experiments demonstrating the effectiveness with which nanostructures can impact this important aspect of the global energy challenge.
